Breakfast Tips
Nutritional experts agree that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and is a requirement for anyone in the process of achieving and maintaining an appropriate body weight . Unfortunately, most people skip breakfast.
If you skip breakfast your body shuts down your metabolism in an attempt to preserve what fuel reserves it contains. Breakfast breaks the fast initiated by sleep and increases your metabolism dramatically. Since metabolism accounts for approximately 70% of your energy expenditure, it is clearly the largest form of energy expenditure and should be encouraged. By skipping breakfast you are sending the wrong signal to your body and actually conserving energy. By conserving energy you are preserving your weight.
Instructions:
(1) The first thing to do upon rising is to consume one, preferably two, glasses of water. This rehydrates the body and helps to flush the kidneys. If you are seeking a hot drink, try either a green tea or just hot water with lemon juice in it. Both are good for the liver and prepare the digestive system for food. Drink a small cup 20-30 minutes before breakfast.
(2) Try a bowl of cereal (unsweetened) and a glass of orange juice at the very least each morning. You’ll feel better and be less inclined to snack on junk food.
