Beverages
You should make an concerted effort to reduce your intake of alcoholic beverages and sodas in order to accomplish your weight loss goals. These beverages are high in sugar content and have no nutritional value. These beverages have been associated with the elevations of blood pressure, especially in people over 45 years of age.
Coffee, tea, and diet cola are free. However, you should limit your consumption of coffee (caffeine) to 4 cups per day. If you reduce your coffee intake you can expect some withdrawal symptoms. The body adjusts to the mental stimulation of caffeine, and regular users depend on it for normal mental function -- which is one reason to quit, if you don't like being addicted.
If you are performing long duration exercises (2 hours plus) you may consider drinking sports drinks to replenish your electrolytes.
