Phase 3: Soup Diet Plus Protein
You should use this protocol for no longer than 3 days. This diet is totally balanced, incorporating carbohydrates, protein, fiber, and fat. The Soup is used as the base stock. You can either add the protein when you initially make the soup or add it at each meal. The choice is yours.
The portion sizes for each follows:
Add protein while the Soup is simmering (about 30 minutes).
- lbs. - Lean ground beef (break up, brown in a skillet, and drain).
- 1 lb. - Your choice of lean steak (broil and cut into ¼” pieces).
- 28 oz - Skinless chicken breast (broil and cut into ¼” pieces).
- 32 oz - Your choice of fish (broil and cut into ¼” pieces).
- 36 oz - Water-packed tuna.
Add protein as you heat 8-12 ounces of the Soup.
- 2 oz - Lean ground beef (break up, brown in a skillet, and drain).
- 2 oz - Your choice of lean steak (broil and cut into ¼” pieces).
- 3 oz - Skinless chicken breast (broil and cut into ¼” pieces).
- 4 oz - Your choice of fish (broil and cut into ¼” pieces).
- 4 oz - Water-packed tuna.
Daily Eating Instructions
- Eat one serving of a bran cereal of your choice (Fiber One, All Bran, Crude Bran) with 6 ounces of skim or 2% milk. The correct serving size is given on the cereal box.
- Eat three combination soup plus protein meals per day.
- For the balance of the day, eat as much soup (without protein) as you desire (hot or cold).
- Up to 4 cups of coffee is allowed.
- Do not eat fruit, drink fruit juices, or add sugar to cereal.
- Drink 6 to 8 glasses (8 oz) of ice cold water.
Tip: Take vitamins and minerals to supplement your diet.
End of Soup Diet
If you followed the protocol you should experience a weight loss of 3 to 5 pounds depending on your percent body fat. In addition, you have flushed your system of toxins and are now ready to start your regular weight loss plan and exercise program.
You can use this diet plan once a month with your doctors permission to stimulate metabolism, if desired.
