Food Exchange System
To master the task of meeting your nutritional needs and losing weight, you may find it useful to use the Food Exchange System. Exchange systems are popular among careful diet planners, particularly people who wish to control calories as well as to obtain certain nutrients in desired quantities.
Six Food Groups
The exchange system is divided into six food groups which have been grouped together because of similar caloric content and percentage of car-bohydrates, proteins, and fats. Each food group is associated with a given number of calories and a specific serving size as listed in the table below:
