General Diet Plan Rules

  • Do not skip meals. Make a concerted effort to eat at the same time each day.
  • Never drink any beverage 15 minutes before a meal, because this will dilute digestive acids. If you take algae, vitamins and minerals at meal time—take these supplements during the meal with water.
  • Eat at a slow pace to promote proper absorption and digestion.
  • Avoid eating two hours before bed time. The digestive system “shuts down” while you are sleeping which could cause gastrointestinal distress.
  • Limit all caffeine beverages to three cups per day (24 ounces).
  • Only eat fruit with skin on an empty stomach. After eating fruit, wait 60-minutes before consuming any other food. Fruit is permitted as a main meal providing no other foods are eaten.
  • Avoid dips or sauces that are high in saturated fats, flour, or sugar.
  • Avoid canned foods that are high in sodium. Always drain canned foods in water before cooking them.
  • Avoid refined flour or processed foods.
  • Only eat whole wheat products.
