General Diet Plan Rules
- Do not skip meals. Make a concerted effort to eat at the same time each day.
- Never drink any beverage 15 minutes before a meal, because this will dilute digestive acids. If you take algae, vitamins and minerals at meal time—take these supplements during the meal with water.
- Eat at a slow pace to promote proper absorption and digestion.
- Avoid eating two hours before bed time. The digestive system “shuts down” while you are sleeping which could cause gastrointestinal distress.
- Limit all caffeine beverages to three cups per day (24 ounces).
- Only eat fruit with skin on an empty stomach. After eating fruit, wait 60-minutes before consuming any other food. Fruit is permitted as a main meal providing no other foods are eaten.
- Avoid dips or sauces that are high in saturated fats, flour, or sugar.
- Avoid canned foods that are high in sodium. Always drain canned foods in water before cooking them.
- Avoid refined flour or processed foods.
- Only eat whole wheat products.
